FISHES & LOAVES

Fishes & Loaves is responsible for the 5 Lenten soup suppers, a church picnic, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. We prepare and purchase items for the soup suppers, collect the nominal fee for them, and oversee the Shepherd groups serving the meal. For the picnic, we purchase the meat, buns, condiments, and drinks. Attendees provide side dishes and enjoy games before eating. We also provide the sign-up sheets. For the Thanksgiving dinner, turkey, dressing, and gravy are provided with the attendees bringing the side dishes. On Christmas, a ham is provided and the attendees also bring side dishes. With the Shepherd groups serving juice, coffee, and cookies after the Sunday morning service, this committee makes sure there are the necessary supplies in the pantry. During the year, the committee also may have a game night, movie, or a music program.

Shepherd Groups

There are 5 Shepherd Groups with an Elder assigned to each one. One or more volunteers serve as group leaders. The leaders are the contact people for that group. They help organize at least two social activities per year. In the event of the death of a member of the group, the shepherd group assists the Bereavement Committee of the Deacons with a meal and refreshments (as appropriate) for the family and guests. Shepherd Groups help, as assigned, with the Fellowship Hour after Worship. Other activities may include serving at the Lenten Soup Suppers. The shepherd group organization serves as a communications link between the church and each of the shepherd group members.

Sunday Fellowship

Following every worship service there is an opportunity to meet and greet members and guests visiting here. Coffee, juice and cookies are served by the people of different shepherd groups.
